Stop Fashion Piracy

So lately I have noticed a lot of Chinese companies selling poor copies of real designer wedding and prom dresses online and it got me to thinking about how much these copies affect the integrity of the bridal industry. These fake companies steal the designers pictures from the official websites and post them on their own counterfeit website, tricking customers into believing that they are receiving an actual designer dress when, in fact, they are receiving a poorly reproduced copy. As a local business Bridal Expressions encourages buying from a local trusted source to prevent you from falling prey to one of these illegitimate website scams. 


I realize that some people do not see what is wrong with buying a counterfeit dress online, but what people don't realize is that by buying from an authorized retailer you are not only getting the quality and service you expect, but you are also helping out your local community. Small businesses play an important role in a healthy community, sales tax and income tax from small businesses provide money for local governments and local schools. Without small businesses there would be less teachers for our students and fewer police officers on our streets. By buying locally from an authorized dealer you are bettering your community. Purchasing a fake dress online means that all of your money ends up in a foreign country, your community and your country see no benefit. 


I recently saw this letter from Alyce Designs which I think outlines the risk that counterfeit merchandise poses to small businesses in the United States. Alyce Designs has some of the most unique prom dress designs and Bridal Expressions is very proud to carry them in our store and we would be devastated if they were unable to continue doing business because of Chinese copies of their designs flooding the internet. Purchasing counterfeit dresses online means that American workers lose their jobs, when fewer legitimate dresses are purchased dress designers will hire fewer people and they may eventually have to close their doors, leaving a lot Americans without jobs.

Just thought I'd post a few pictures of our brand new store @ 10465 S State Street in Sandy, UT, 84070. 

We've been open in our new location for about two weeks now and I finally got around to posting a few pictures on our Google listing so I thought I'd share them here too. 

Pretty soon I will be updating  the Bridal Expressions website too! We will have updated prices and an online store for those of you who are shopping out of state and can't come visit our store.

Modestia Couture Trunk Show Going on Now

The 2010 Modestia Couture trunk show is going on now at Bridal Expressions. Stop by our store in Sandy, Utah to see our latest collection of Modest Wedding dresses. These dresses are not available for veiwing online so be sure to come in to see them all!

This year's trunk show features gowns with unique necklines; because demand was so high Modestia Couture is now offering more Queen Anne necklines and collars for the discriminating bride who wants a gown that is different than the typical wedding dress. 

Gowns purchased at this year's trunk show will be arriving at the end of April or the beginning of May. Unfortunately, they will not be available prior to these dates.

Vintage Style Wedding Dresses at Bridal Expressions

Bridal Expressions will be receiving brand new vintage-inspired wedding gowns in the next week or two. We are so glad to be showcasing these unique and totally not cookie-cutter wedding gowns from Fancy New York.

As I blogged about a few posts ago we are changing things up at Bridal Expressions. Not only will we continue to offer the most fashion-forward modest wedding gowns available but we will be carrying a variety of strapless and contemporary wedding gown designs.

Some of the new vintage dresses we will feature in the store have amazing details like real vintage fabrics from Europe. There are also customizations available for these dresses, which means that brides who need sleeves can have them added at factory level.

I have posted just two of the pictures of these gowns on here, but we have more styles coming in than are available for view on the internet.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 2009

It's almost October, national breast cancer awareness month, and Bridal Expressions is inviting you to join us on October 10th at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City to run/walk in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. Last year Bridal Expressions raised more than $800 to fight back against breast cancer. Because our store's success relies almost wholly upon women, fighting breast cancer is a cause that is close to our hearts. Website Problems? Part 2

It seems that some other people have been having a hard time viewing the website. It should work with anything equivalent to Internet Explorer 6 and higher. If you do not have IE 6 on your computer you probably need to download the newest Internet Explorer click here to dowload Internet Explorer 8 directly from Microsoft's website. If you are wondering if you have an updated web browser here is an easy way to tell-- does the explorer you are using utilize a "tab" system? If not, you probably need to update your browser to view the website. Otherwise see the post below for the direct links to the Bridal, Maids, and Prom pages.
